Root Canal Treatment

In Turkey, root canal treatment is generally very similar to the procedures performed in other parts of the world. Of course, each dentist or clinic may slightly differentiate their methods. First of all, our dentist needs to examine the problem tooth and take x-rays. This is important to determine how the treatment will be done. We apply local anesthesia so that the patient can have a comfortable treatment process. That is, the area to be treated is numbed. A hole is drilled through the tooth to reach the inner part of the tooth, the so-called pulp.

The infected or damaged pulp (the living tissue of the tooth) is removed. Special instruments and techniques are used for this. After the pulp is removed, the canal is disinfected and made ready for treatment. This stage is done to clean and shape the inside of the canal. The cleaned canal is filled with a special filling material. This material is usually a type of rubber called gutta-percha.  Once the root canal treatment is complete, a temporary or permanent crown is placed over the tooth. This is important to protect the tooth and ensure that it can continue to function normally. After treatment, your dentist may call you back in a few weeks or months for a check-up. This is done to follow the healing process. Of course, these steps may vary from person to person and depending on the situation. The important thing is to discuss the process in detail with your dentist.

It can sometimes be difficult to tell if a tooth root canal is infected, but there are some symptoms that you should pay attention to. The most common symptom is definitely pain. This pain can be exacerbated when pressure is applied to your tooth or when it comes into contact with hot or cold foods. Greater sensitivity to hot or cold foods and drinks is also a sign of infection. 

If your tooth has started to change color, this is also a sign of a root canal infection. If you notice swelling, redness and inflammation in your gums or jaw, this may indicate a problem with the root canal.

The duration of root canal treatment in Turkey usually depends on the situation. Generally speaking, in simple cases, it can be completed in a single session. However, in more complex cases, such as if the root structure of the tooth is difficult or the infection is serious, this period may spread over several sessions.

Sometimes dentists perform a two-stage treatment, first cleaning the infection and then filling the canal. In this case, the first session is followed by a second session a few weeks later. But it doesn't always take that long, it can often progress faster.

Of course, these times may vary depending on the patient's dental health status, the location of the tooth to be treated and the techniques used by the dentist. It is best to consult a dentist for your specific situation. The dentist will recommend the most appropriate treatment process according to the condition of the tooth.

The cost of root canal treatment in Turkey can vary depending on several factors. First of all, the location of the tooth to be treated (front tooth, molar, etc.), the complexity of the treatment, and the quality of the materials applied can affect the price. In addition, the experience of the dentist who will perform the treatment and the city or district where you are located may also cause price differences. In general, the price range for root canal treatment varies between 100-150 Euros.

If you are worried about root canal treatment, this is normal. Many people immediately think of pain when they hear about root canal treatment, but this is not the case at all. Thanks to today's dental techniques, root canal treatment is often performed with little or no pain.
